Complete ICT Trading Strategy 2022 — The 2022 Mentorship Model + Free PDF

ICT 2022 trading strategy diagram showing London open liquidity sweep, market structure shift, and PD Array entry flow

The complete ICT trading strategy I cover here was introduced by Michael Huddleston in his 2022 mentorship and it changed how a generation of retail traders read price action.

It is an algorithmic strategy built on time and price — as Huddleston puts it, price is nothing without the time. The 2022 model gives you a clear daily bias, two well-defined session entry windows (London open and New York open), and a precise execution framework on the lower timeframes.

When followed strictly, this is a complete intraday strategy that can deliver 50 pips or more on a single setup at a 1:3 risk-reward ratio or better. I trade it on indexes and on the major USD pairs, and I have walked hundreds of these setups on live charts since I started teaching the method.

This guide is the full breakdown — what the 2022 model is, how I execute it on London and New York opens, the exact times and timeframes I use, the common mistakes I see traders make, and the answers to the questions I get most often.

Use the table of contents to jump to any section.

What is the ICT 2022 Trading Strategy?

The ICT 2022 trading strategy is the algorithmic intraday model Michael Huddleston taught in his 2022 mentorship. It treats price as a delivery mechanism that institutions move through specific time windows in pursuit of Likuiditas and the rebalancing of imbalances.

The strategy is built on three pillars: a higher-timeframe daily bias to anchor direction, a session liquidity sweep to mark the inflection, and a lower-timeframe entry trigger off a refined ICT PD Array. When all three line up, the trade is high probability. When even one is missing, I stand aside.

It is a complete intraday strategy that can yield 50 pips or more at a 1:3 risk-reward ratio when paired with a correct Bias Harian TIK.

How the ICT 2022 Trading Strategy Works

To trade the 2022 model successfully, I follow this sequence on every setup. The daily bias comes first — without it, the rest of the model is guesswork.

Once the bias is set, I wait for the London session to open at 03:00 AM New York local time and I let the model unfold from there.

Step-by-Step Trade Flow

This is the exact ten-step execution checklist I run before every 2022-model trade. Save it, print it, do not skip a step.

  1. Establish daily bias on the daily and 4-hour charts before the session opens.
  2. Mark the price range from NY-midnight (00:00 NY local) to the London open (03:00 NY local). The high and low of this range are your reference levels.
  3. Wait for London open at 03:00 AM NY local time. Do not pre-position.
  4. Look for a liquidity sweep of the previous range high or low in the direction opposite to your bias (a typical Judas move).
  5. Watch for an ICT Market Structure Shift on the lower timeframes (5-minute, 3-minute, or 1-minute) in the direction that aligns with your bias. See the dedicated Pergeseran Struktur Pasar TIK guide.
  6. Confirm displacement on the MSS leg. The candle that breaks the prior swing should close decisively, ideally leaving an imbalance behind. See Perpindahan Perpindahan.
  7. Mark the ICT PD Array created during the displacement leg — fair value gap, order block, inverse fair value gap, or breaker block — using the Array PD TIK framework.
  8. Validate that the PD Array sits in the correct premium or discount zone relative to the swept range, using the premium and discount framework.
  9. Wait for price to retrace back into the PD Array. Do not chase.
  10. Execute the trade at the PD Array tap, with stop loss beyond the swept extreme and take profit at the opposite end of the swept range or beyond.

The same ten-step flow applies at the New York open, with the New York range substituted for the London range when London has been quiet.

Strategi Perdagangan Sesi London

Before the London open, I always mark the high and low of the price range that has formed from NY-midnight (00:00 NY local) to London open (03:00 NY local). These two levels are the reference for every London setup.

✨ Update: I've launched my ICT Trading Strategies PDF eBook! Check it out at ictpdf.com .

When the London session opens, I look for price to take the high or low of that previous price range in line with my bias — that is the Sapuan Likuiditas.

After the liquidity sweep of the previous price range, I look for an Pergeseran Struktur Pasar TIK with a clean Perpindahan Perpindahan on the lower timeframes (5-minute or 3-minute, or even 1-minute when I have the experience to read it cleanly), on the opposite side of the sweep — aligning with the daily bias.

After the ICT market structure shift, I mark the Array PD TIK — fair value gap, order block, inverse fair value gap, or breaker block — using the ICT premium and discount tool.

I then wait for price to trade back to the ICT PD Array sitting in the correct premium or discount zone.

When price tests the ICT PD Array, I execute the trade as shown in the example below.

London session trade example — NY-midnight to London open price range high and low marked on EURUSD chart

In the picture above the price range high and low are marked before the London open.

London open liquidity sweep followed by ICT market structure shift to the sell side and FVG entry execution

Price moves up after London open to raid the liquidity of the range high and right after the liquidity sweep, price returns and shifts the structure to the sell side.

After the MSS, price retraces back to the FVG and the sell trade is executed inside the FVG with the stop loss above the London high and take profit at the range low.

The trade successfully raided the low of the range and delivered 70 pips at a 1:3 risk-reward ratio.

The London open is highly volatile and can yield strong moves because it overlaps with the ICT London Open Kill Zone time.

Strategi Perdagangan Sesi New York

The New York session opens at 08:00 AM New York local time. There are two scenarios I plan for, depending on what London did.

Scenario I — London already swept liquidity and moved away. The New York session typically delivers a retracement followed by continuation in London’s direction.

In this scenario I draw a Fibonacci from the London session low to the high reached prior to the New York retracement (or the inverse, depending on the direction of the move).

I then wait for price to tap the Entri Perdagangan Optimal TIK levels and execute in the direction of the London delivery, after a confirmation like an ICT MSS on the 1-minute timeframe.

New York session continuation example — range high and low marked before London open

In the picture above, the range high and low are marked before the London open. Price runs above the range high after the London session open.

Price reverses after London sweep, retraces into ICT Optimal Trade Entry zone at New York open, sell trade executed

After sweeping the liquidity of the range high, price reverses to the downside and slows down. Meanwhile the New York session opens at 08:00 AM and price retraces back into the London range to tap the ICT Optimal Trade Entry levels.

A sell trade is executed at the ICT Optimal Trade Entry with stop loss above the London high and take profit at the range low. Price grabs the range low and successfully hits the target.

Scenario II — London ranged and did not sweep liquidity. If London remained range-bound, I mark the high and low of the price range from NY-midnight to the New York open and wait.

When the New York session opens, I look for the liquidity sweep on either the high or the low side, in line with my daily bias.

After the liquidity sweep, I look for an ICT market structure shift with displacement on the lower timeframes (5-minute or 3-minute, or 1-minute with experience) on the opposite side of the sweep — aligning with the daily bias.

After the ICT market structure shift, I mark the ICT PD Array — fair value gap, order block, inverse fair value gap, or breaker block — using the ICT premium and discount tool.

I then wait for price to trade back to the ICT PD Array sitting in the correct premium or discount zone.

When price tests the ICT PD Array, I execute the trade as shown in the example below.

New York session example — range high and low marked, London session ranged without sweeping

In the picture above the range high and low are marked. The London session remained quiet and did not grab the high or low of the range.

New York open sweeps the range low, taking sell-side liquidity

After the New York session opens, price grabs the low of the range.

Market structure shift after sweep, retracement into breaker block, buy trade execution with stop below order block

While grabbing the low of the range, price reverses to the upside and shifts the market structure. After the MSS, price retraces back to the Breaker Block where a buy trade is executed with stop loss below the low of the order block and take profit at the range high.

Price ran up cleanly and hit the target, delivering 70 pips.

Kerangka Waktu Utama untuk Strategi Perdagangan TIK 2022

The 2022 model uses a clean timeframe ladder. I read each of these every session, in this order:

  • Daily timeframe — to set the ICT daily bias.
  • 1-hour timeframe — for the higher-timeframe perspective and key levels.
  • 15-minute timeframe — to identify the liquidity pools and price imbalances.
  • 5-minute, 3-minute, and 1-minute timeframes — for the trade confirmation (MSS) and execution.

The 1-minute is the sharpest entry tool, but it is also the easiest to misread. I do not recommend it until you have at least a hundred logged 5-minute setups behind you.

Types of Liquidity for the ICT 2022 Trading Strategy

These are the six liquidity references I work with on every 2022-model session, in order of priority:

  1. Previous day high / low draw on liquidity.
  2. Previous session high / low draw on liquidity.
  3. Previous week high / low draw on liquidity.
  4. Established high / low on the 15-minute timeframe.
  5. Return to current or old week opening gap.
  6. Return to current or old day opening gap.

The first three carry the most weight because the orders sitting at those levels are the largest. The lower three are intraday refinements.

Best Time to Trade Using the ICT 2022 Model

The New York session open is the highest-probability window for the 2022 model because it aligns with the ICT New York AM Session Kill Zone and overlaps with the tail of the London session. The volatility is high, the news flow concentrates here, and most of the day’s range is delivered in this window.

For US-based traders, this is also the cleanest window to trade because it lines up with morning hours in the New York and Eastern time zones — no late-night sessions required.

Best Pairs to Trade Using the ICT 2022 Model

The ICT trading strategy works across markets, but the indices Huddleston favours are NASDAQ 100 (NQ Futures) and the E-mini S&P 500 (ES Futures). These two are tracked in every 2022-mentorship lecture for a reason — the time-of-day delivery is cleanest on the US index futures.

For forex, the major USD pairs work very well: GBP/USD, EUR/USD, and XAU/USD (Gold). The 2022 model on these pairs respects the same kill-zone logic and the same liquidity types.

US futures traders should note that ES and NQ are CFTC-regulated futures and execute through a US futures broker (NinjaTrader, AMP, Tradovate, or a prop firm such as Topstep). TradingView is for chart analysis only — order placement happens at the broker.

Common Mistakes I See Traders Make on the 2022 Model

Five mistakes show up in nearly every comment I receive on this strategy. Avoid these and the model converts at a much higher rate.

  1. Trading without a daily bias. The 2022 model is a directional strategy. Without a higher-timeframe bias, the liquidity sweep and the MSS are just noise. Set the bias on the daily before the session opens, then trade only in that direction.
  2. Entering before the market structure shift confirms. A liquidity sweep alone is not a signal. Price has to break the most recent counter-trend swing on the lower timeframe before I act. A wick poke into the PD Array without an MSS first is a setup that fails far more often than it works.
  3. Stop loss too tight on the sweep. The sweep candle often takes out a few pips beyond the prior extreme before reversing. If your stop sits one pip beyond the swing high or low, you are trading on the wrong side of the algorithm. Place stops beyond the wick of the sweep candle, with a small buffer.
  4. Ignoring the kill-zone time window. Setups that print outside the London Open or New York Open kill zones are generally lower quality. The 2022 model is built around specific times. If the chart pattern looks right but the clock says 11:30 AM NY, I usually skip.
  5. Oversizing the position. A 1:3 risk-reward target is realistic on this model, but only when stops are honoured. Risking 2% per trade is the upper bound I would suggest for anyone still in the first six months on this method. The discipline matters more than the entry technique.

FAQs About the ICT Trading Strategy

What is the ICT 2022 Trading Strategy?

The ICT 2022 Trading Strategy is the algorithmic intraday approach introduced by Michael Huddleston in his 2022 mentorship. It focuses on liquidity sweeps and price imbalances, with time and price as the two anchoring inputs that guide every trade.

How does the ICT 2022 Trading Strategy work?

The strategy revolves around identifying the correct daily bias, waiting for a session liquidity sweep at the London or New York open, confirming with a market structure shift on the lower timeframe, and executing on a refined PD Array entry in the right premium or discount zone.

What is an ICT Daily Bias?

ICT Daily Bias is the directional read of the market for the day — bullish or bearish — drawn from higher-timeframe price action and the next significant draw on liquidity. It is the first input in the 2022 model and the rest of the model relies on it being correct.

What is a liquidity sweep in ICT trading?

A liquidity sweep is when price takes out the stops sitting above a previous high or below a previous low, then reverses or accelerates. The sweep is the trigger event that opens the entry window for the 2022 model.

What are the key timeframes for the ICT 2022 strategy?

Daily timeframe for bias, 1-hour for higher-timeframe perspective, 15-minute for liquidity and imbalances, and 5-minute / 3-minute / 1-minute for confirmation and execution. The same ladder applies to indices and forex pairs alike.

When should I trade using the ICT 2022 Trading Model?

The two highest-probability windows are the London open at 03:00 AM New York time and the New York open at 08:00 AM New York time. Both overlap with kill zones and carry the volatility that the 2022 model needs.

How is Fibonacci used in the ICT 2022 strategy?

Fibonacci is used to mark Optimal Trade Entry (OTE) levels during retracements after major price moves, particularly after liquidity sweeps. The OTE zone identifies the discount or premium price levels for trade entries.

What are the best currency pairs to trade using the ICT 2022 model?

The model works well on US index futures (NASDAQ 100 / NQ and E-mini S&P 500 / ES) and on the major USD pairs — GBP/USD, EUR/USD, and XAU/USD. The cleaner the time-of-day delivery on the instrument, the better the model performs.

Why does time matter so much in the ICT 2022 strategy?

Price moves only when liquidity is available and volatility is concentrated. Both of these align with specific session windows — London open and New York open. Outside those windows, the model gives fewer high-probability setups.

Can I trade the ICT 2022 model on a 1-minute chart?

Yes, but the 1-minute timeframe demands experience. It magnifies wicks, false breaks, and noise. I recommend running at least a hundred logged 5-minute setups before moving down to the 1-minute for execution.

What should I do if the London session is range-bound?

If London remains range-bound, wait for the New York open. Mark the NY-midnight to NY-open range, then look for the New York session to sweep one side of the range and shift structure on the lower timeframe before entering.

Is the ICT 2022 model profitable for beginners?

The model is profitable when the rules are followed strictly. It is not easy, but it gives a clear bias and clear triggers. Beginners should expect six to twelve months of demo work before risking real capital. There is no shortcut.

I hope this guide helps you master the ICT 2022 trading strategy. You may also want to read my guides on ICT Optimal Trade Entry Pattern dan Bias Harian TIK before you put the model on charts.

      1. Please sir,

Could you kindly provide the precise opening and closing times for the Asian, London, and New York trading sessions during both shifts, i.e., UTC-4 (EDT) and UTC-5 (EST)?

        Thanks a lot sir.

  4. Hi sir, I once listened to ICT videos where he said that Assian range high and low can be used as a precursor to London session i.e. during London session and if i want to buy, I can wait for price to sweep liquidity below the asian range low. So my Qn: ” is there any difference between implementing NY midnight to London open prior to London session and implementing the Asian range Low and High prior to London session??

  6. Good morning sir, your content is great and I learned a lot, but I was worried about the opening times of the sessions, in other posts on this site that I read, for example, it said that the London opening is from 2:00 – 5:00 New York time (Est)(UTC-5),
but when the time change happens to UTC-4 (summer time), the clocks are advanced by one hour, that is why you mention London opening at 3:00 New York local time, can you clarify this issue better please, I would really appreciate it if you could help me! Thanks!

    1. If you follow the NY-local time you will be avoiding this confusion of time.
Because in daylight saving the timezone is shifted by one hour lets say UTC-4 to UTC-5 but the timings of market remain same

  7. Hallo, vielen Dank für dieses Konzept ! gibt es auch ein Trading Modell für die NewYork PM Session von 1.30pm-4.00 pm ? vielen Dank

  8. Hello, I have a question: Is Monitorship 2024 comprehensive enough for me to understand the market well and trade in it, or not? If yes, thank you. If no, what courses should I take to become a good chart learner and expert?

    1. Hi Chirag. Honestly I do not focus much on win rate with this model. In my own testing it sits somewhere around 45 to 55%, but the real edge is the risk to reward. I am after 1:3 or better on the clean setups, so even with a win rate under 50% it stays profitable. Filter everything through the daily bias and only take the A plus setups. The win rate kind of sorts itself out after that.
